Huawei Watches and Bands

Buy a Huawei watch or band, from the stainless steel Watch GT 6 down to bands under R1,000. Every one of them links to Discovery Vitality through the Huawei Health app, and the bands run around a fortnight between charges rather than overnight. Everything carries a one year warranty, and returns are free with the courier arranged and paid for by us.

Huawei Watches and Bands in South Africa

Huawei makes the wearables that suit South African buyers best, for two reasons that have nothing to do with the watch face. The bands last around a fortnight on a charge, and the whole range feeds Discovery Vitality through the Huawei Health app. That combination is why a Huawei band ends up on more wrists here than the specifications alone would explain.

This page carries the watches and the bands. If you are after a Huawei phone, the Huawei phone range is separate and it answers the Google apps question properly, which is the thing most people want settled before they commit.

Smartphone Shop has sold online since 2010 and holds a 4.9 rating across 126 Google reviews. Everything here carries a one year manufacturing warranty, and returns are free with the courier arranged and paid for by us. The prices shown on the product cards above are live. They update as stock and exchange rates change, so what you see there is always the current price.

Some of our stock is global variant rather than local-badged. We say so on the product page where it applies, it is part of why the price is lower, and it carries the same one year warranty as everything else we sell.

Buy a Huawei Watch GT: the Stainless Steel End of the Range

The Watch GT line is the proper watch end of what Huawei makes. Round face, always-on display, full sensor set, and a body that reads as a watch rather than a tracker.

The Huawei Watch GT 6 is the current one we stock, in a 46mm black stainless steel case, and it sits in the top price band. The lighter polymer Watch GT models come and go, so check what is on the shelf above.

Buy a GT if you want one device that reads as a watch in a meeting and still tracks a run properly.

Buy a Huawei Watch Fit: the Middle of the Range

The Watch Fit line splits the difference. A rectangular screen far bigger than a band gives you, in a body that still disappears under a sleeve.

The Watch Fit line is the squarer, lighter alternative to the round GT range, running around ten days between charges. Stock moves quickly on these, so the models live above are the ones we have today.

Both link to Vitality the same way everything else here does.

Buy a Huawei Band 10 or Band 11 Under R1,000

This is where most people land, and it is the part of the range we would point a first-time buyer at.

A band does the tracking, the notifications and the sleep monitoring, in a body you forget you are wearing, for a price under R1,000. The trade is screen size, and for most buyers that trade is worth making.

Buy the Huawei Band 11 for the newest generation, or the Huawei Band 10 if you want the one our team has worn and written up.

One of our team wore a Band 10 for a month and wrote up how it went, including what annoyed them: On and Off the Track: My Month with the Huawei Band 10. We also covered the Band 9 when it launched.

Battery claims are worth treating carefully, and we wrote about how they hold up in real use rather than on a spec sheet.

How Huawei Wearables Link to Discovery Vitality

Huawei is a supported brand on Discovery Vitality. There is no per-model approval list, which is the thing most buyers get wrong.

What actually happens is this. Your watch or band records steps, heart rate and workouts. The Huawei Health app collects that data. You give the Discovery app permission to read it, and your activity starts counting.

Discovery does publish the exceptions. Two older Huawei devices do not link to the Huawei Health app at all, the Huawei A2 Band and the Huawei Watch 2 LTE, so neither can feed Vitality. We do not sell either.

Points depend on your age band, your heart rate zone and the device, and Discovery adjusts the thresholds over time. The current figures sit on Discovery's own fitness devices page, which is the only place worth checking.

Tracking your weight alongside your movement is where this stops being a gadget, something we covered in It's Time to Throw Out That Old Bathroom Scale.

Does a Huawei Watch Work With an iPhone

Yes, and this is the question that separates Huawei from the alternatives.

The Huawei Health app runs on both Android and iOS, so a Huawei band or watch pairs with an iPhone and keeps tracking, syncing and feeding Vitality. You lose some of the deeper phone-side features you would get on a Huawei handset, but the core job works.

A Samsung watch on an iPhone loses most of what you paid for, which is why we point mixed households at Huawei. The Samsung range is here if you are staying in that ecosystem, and the Honor range is the other broadly phone-agnostic option. The full smart watch range covers every brand we carry.

Buying the phone and the watch together? The Huawei Nova 14 and the Nova Y72s are the two we are asked about most, and the wider cellphone range sits behind them. Smartphones under R5,000 is the most searched price band on the site.

Huawei Watch Prices and Charging

Prices move, so these are bands. The live figure is always on the product card above.

Under R1,000 buys the Band range and the entry Watch Fit: full tracking, notifications, and battery measured in weeks.

R1,000 to R3,000 buys the Watch Fit range and the lighter GT models, with bigger screens, more sensors and GPS on some.

Above R3,000 buys the stainless steel Watch GT 6: flagship build, full sport tracking, longest support window.

Charging habits matter more than the number on the box, and the same rules that apply to a phone battery apply here, which we set out in how to properly charge your device.

Huawei Audio and Accessories

Adding earbuds? The FreeBuds 6i and the FreeBuds SE 2 are the two in stock most often.

Straps, chargers and cases sit under cellphone accessories, and the wider smart home and gadgets range covers everything else. Tablets and the Xiaomi range are worth a look if you are kitting out a household.

Buying several for a team? The bulk and wholesale page covers pricing and lead times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Huawei Watch any good?

For battery life and fitness tracking it is among the strongest at its price, and the two-week band battery is genuinely unusual. Where it gives ground is third-party apps, because Huawei runs its own app store rather than Google Play. If you want a watch that tracks well and lasts, it is a strong choice. If you want to install a lot of third-party watch apps, look elsewhere.

Is a Huawei Watch better than a Samsung?

They win on different things. Samsung gives you deeper integration with a Samsung phone and better third-party app support. Huawei gives you far longer battery life and works properly on an iPhone as well as Android. If your household runs both platforms, Huawei is the more practical answer.

How do I connect my Huawei watch to my phone?

Install the Huawei Health app from the app store on Android or iOS, turn Bluetooth on, open the app and follow the pairing prompt. To feed Discovery Vitality, open the Discovery app afterwards and give it permission to read your fitness data.

What is the cheapest Huawei watch?

The Band range sits under R1,000 and does the tracking, notifications and sleep monitoring that most buyers actually use. The live prices are on the product cards above.

Do Huawei watches work with Discovery Vitality?

Yes. Huawei is a supported brand and the data flows through the Huawei Health app into the Discovery app once you grant permission. Two older models do not link at all, the A2 Band and the Watch 2 LTE, and we do not sell either.

What warranty do your Huawei watches come with?

Every device we sell carries a one year manufacturing warranty, global variant stock included. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. It does not cover physical damage, liquid damage or unauthorised software changes. Full terms sit on our Returns and Refunds Policy page.

How much is delivery and can I return it?

We deliver anywhere in South Africa and orders arrive within 1 to 4 working days. The delivery cost is shown at checkout before you pay. Returns are free, we arrange and pay for the courier, and the window is 7 business days.
